Commands#
Newspaper Job registers no chat or console commands. Everything a courier does starts at the editor, and everything an owner changes lives in config/config.lua. Other resources talk to it through the exports and the event below.
Client Exports and Events#
For opening the job panel from somewhere other than the editor — an NPC manager, a job centre, a radial menu.
openNewspaperMenu
Opens the full job panel — routes, ride picker, guide and statistics — for the local player.
exports['qs-newspaperjob']:openNewspaperMenu()The same is available as a client event, handy from the server or from a menu that only fires events:
-- client
TriggerEvent('qs-newspaper:openNewspaperMenu')
-- server
TriggerClientEvent('qs-newspaper:openNewspaperMenu', source)The dialogue camera only frames the editor when the player is within 6 m of him; from anywhere else the panel simply opens. Starting a route still requires being within 15 m of the editor, so a panel opened across the map can browse and show statistics but not hand out a route.
There is deliberately no export that opens the statistics on their own: they are a view inside the panel, and opening them alone would capture the cursor with nothing on screen. Open the panel instead.
Server Exports#
For asking who is out delivering — a police dispatch that counts on-duty workers, a city hall dashboard, a script that should not interrupt a courier mid-route.
IsPlayerOnMission
Whether a player is on a newspaper route right now. It reads the server's own route record — written when a route is accepted and cleared when it is finished, abandoned or the player drops — so it is the authoritative answer.
local onRoute = exports['qs-newspaperjob']:IsPlayerOnMission(source) -- booleanisPlayerOnDuty
Kept for scripts that already call it. Duty follows the route: it is set when a route starts and cleared when it ends. Prefer IsPlayerOnMission in new code.
Network Events#
The events the panel and the route use internally — qs-newspaper:startRoute, reportDelivery, reportThrow, finishRoute, abandonRoute — carry no amounts. Every one is re-checked on the server (job, level, distance, cooldowns, the newspapers in the bag), and payment, experience and items are never accepted from a client. Do not call them from other resources; use the exports above.
Upgrading a server whose scripts called the old qs-newspaperDeliveryJob:* events? They were removed — see Updating an Older Version for what replaced each one.
