Usage
Using Sit Everywhere: the animation picker, automatic seat placement, Place & adjust, changing pose while seated, preset seats, MLO locations and every /sitconfig setting.
Sit Everywhere gives players three ways onto a seat, and they work side by side. An admin never has to choose between them.
Way
How the player starts it
What happens
On a prop
The third eye on a chair, bench, sofa, stool or bed.
Sit or Lie down opens the animation picker, and the seat point is calculated from the prop.
Anywhere
/sit or , wherever they stand.
/lay
The picker opens, and the player sits on whatever is under their feet.
Preset seat
The third eye on a prop or interior with a hand-placed seat, or the floating prompt over it.
One press: the player walks over and sits exactly where the seat data says, with no picker.
The third-eye options depend on the prop. 261 models get the picker; 704 have a hand-placed seat; most common chairs and benches have both:
Option
Shown on
Does
Sit / Lie down
A seat or bed model with no hand-placed seat.
Opens the picker on that prop.
Sit down / Lie down
A prop or interior with a hand-placed seat.
Takes the preset seat in one press.
Choose pose
A prop that has both.
Opens the picker on that prop, so players keep the choice.
Next to a preset seat, /sit and /lay take it straight away instead of opening the picker. Turn that off with Preset seats → /sit takes the nearest preset.
The picker docks to the left edge of the screen and leaves the rest clear for the preview. It opens on Sit down or Lie down, depending on how it was opened.

What is there
Top
The title, and a close button.
Search
Filters the poses by name as you type.
Category rail
All plus every category that has poses here, each with its count.
Section bar
The prop's model name when opened from a prop, the category otherwise, and how many poses are listed.
List
One card per pose, with its picture, name and category.
Bottom
Sit here (or Lie here) across the width, and the crosshair button for Place & adjust.
Key
Does
↑↓ (and ←→)
Move through the list. The preview follows.
ENTER
Sit here with the highlighted pose.
ESC
Close the picker.
Clicking a card selects it; clicking Sit here or Place & adjust confirms it. The picker remembers the last pose each player used for sitting and for lying, and opens on it next time until they reconnect.
The 3D preview. Beside the menu stands a copy of the player's own character, in their own clothes, playing whichever pose is highlighted. Only that player sees it. Menu → Preview camera blurs the world behind it so it reads as part of the menu; Menu → 3D preview ped turns it off on servers that prefer the pictures alone.
Which poses are listed depends on where the picker was opened:
Sit here is where the work is. Instead of asking the player to nudge a ghost onto the bench, the script reads the prop and calculates the seat point itself:
It recognises the prop
Every model is classed as a chair, stool, bench, sofa or bed from its name, with a handful of per-model corrections for the ones the rule gets wrong — picnic tables are benches, bar stools are stools, beach chairs sit higher.
It splits long seats
Benches and sofas are divided along their length into seats of Seat width each (0.62 m), up to eight. The nearest free one is used, and a seat somebody else holds is skipped — so three players fit on one park bench.
It finds the cushion
A probe is fired straight down through the seat point onto the prop itself, and the first hit is the seat height. If the probe finds nothing, the kind's seat height is used instead: a percentage of the model's height.
It turns the ped round
The ped faces away from the backrest: the prop's heading plus Facing offset (180°). Beds use Bed facing offset (90°), so the player lies along the mattress, head on the pillow end.
It uses the map when it can
If Rockstar placed a scenario point on that bench, the game's own point is used instead — those are aligned by the game itself. Turn Use map scenarios off to always get the pose the player chose.
It walks over and sits
A player further than Start walking from (1.2 m) walks to the seat first. If a wall, a fence or a locked door is in the way, they are refused rather than carried through it. The server reserves the seat, and the pose plays.
On a prop, the ped is left free and the game itself keeps it on the cushion; the prop is frozen while somebody sits on it, so a light chair cannot slide away. On the ground, or on a spot placed by hand, the ped is held still instead (Freeze while seated).
Sitting on the ground uses whatever is under the player's feet — pavement, a porch, a roof, a car bonnet — not the terrain beneath it. With nothing solid underneath, the player is in the air and is refused: "You cannot place a seat in mid-air."
Turn Sitting → Automatic seat position off and Sit here hands over to Place & adjust instead, for servers that prefer the player to place every seat by hand.
The crosshair button next to Sit here — or the only path, if you turned the automatic seat off. A translucent copy of the player appears on the calculated seat, already playing the pose, and follows the point the camera is aimed at.
Key
Does
Aim the camera
Moves the spot. It lands on whatever surface the camera ray meets, up to Aim distance (10 m) away.
Mouse wheel
Turns it, Rotation step (5°) per notch.
PAGE UP / ↑
Raises it while held, Height step (0.01 m) per frame.
PAGE DOWN / ↓
Lowers it while held.
E
Confirms. The player sits exactly where the preview is.
X
Cancels.
The keys are drawn on the game's own button bar, bottom right, and a card bottom left shows the heading, the height and whether the spot can be taken:
Status
Means
Good spot
Press E.
Blocked by a wall
A wall, a fence, a door or a prop stands between the player — or the camera — and the spot.
Too far away
Further than Placement distance (6 m) from the player.
Underground
Pushed more than Underground margin (0.35 m) below the surface it was aimed at.
In mid-air
Nothing solid within Mid-air margin (1 m) below it.
Each check has its own switch under Manual placement. With Aim with a raycast off, the spot stays where it started — the calculated seat, or the ground under the player — and only turning and height move it.
Once seated, the player has two keys, drawn on the game's button bar:
Key
Does
E
Opens the Change animation bar at the bottom of the screen. Pick a category, click a pose, and the player switches to it on the same seat point, without standing up.
X
Stands up and releases the seat.
The change-animation key is Interaction → Change animation key; the stand-up key is a FiveM key binding called Stand up, so each player can rebind it under Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM. While the change-animation bar is open, the stand-up key still works and ESC closes the bar.
If something takes the pose away — another script clearing tasks, a stray event — the player is put back on the same seat within half a second, rather than left standing on the bench.
Preset seats play whatever their data names, so there is no change-animation bar on them: only the stand-up key.
On top of the automatic solver, Sit Everywhere ships the hand-placed seats of the sit resource by Mads, carried over value for value: 704 props with exact seat offsets and 62 interiors and MLOs with fixed seats. On those, the player sits exactly where the data says, with the scenario or animation its type names — bar stools, sun loungers, barber chairs, diner booths, hospital beds, tattoo tables, bleachers and more.
Preset seats → Interaction decides it, and is read once at start:
Mode
What players see
Automatic
The third eye when a target resource is running, the floating prompt when none is. The default.
Third eye
Sit down / Lie down on the props, and a box around every seat of an enabled location.
Floating text
A prompt over the nearest free seat within Prompt distance (1.8 m): E sits, G lies down.
Both
The two at once.
The prompt keys are FiveM key bindings — Sit down (preset seats) and Lie down (preset seats) — so players can rebind them. The prompt is drawn by qs-textui when it runs, and by the game's own 3D text otherwise.
The player walks to a point just in front of the seat and the scenario takes them the rest of the way; a few types — bar stools, diner booths — teleport straight in. On a bench or sofa with several seats, Aim picks the seat uses the one the third eye is pointing at rather than the nearest. A seat is refused, with a notification, when:
it is taken by another player or a ped,
the prop is knocked over — leaning more than Maximum tilt (20°),
a wall stands between the player and the seat, or a shelf leaves no room for a head,
The stand-up key gets the player up — with a roll-off animation from a bed. Always teleport out puts them back where they stood before sitting, and Teleport back when unreachable does it only when the walk to the seat failed. A player who is killed, ragdolled, carried off or pushed away is released from the seat on their own, and while seated the cinematic idle camera stays off (Block the idle camera).
Every interior and MLO is one switch under Preset locations, and every switch needs a restart. The base-game spots the sit resource shipped switched on are on; every map that has to be installed first is off.
